In the State of Connecticut and most other States you are required to complete a handgun safety course, which must consist of no less than the NRA's "Basic Pistol Course," prior to submitting your pistol permit application.
**New York is requiring live fire with the class they provide. The NRA Basic Pistol Course Certifcate is needed with a minimum of 50 rounds of live fire.** I am approved to provide the required training to receive your gun permit in New York State. I also provide the court approved documentaion for Live fire.

Whether you have never operated a firearm, or you are an experienced veteran looking for grade A training and experience to brush up your skills, we promise to work with you at your pace to ensure a rich and knowledgeable experience that will leave you feeling safe and comfortable owning your own firearm.
After completing your class with Connecticut Firearms Training, you can expect the following:
- An official NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate recognized by the state of Connecticut and most other states allowing you to apply for your Gun Permit.
- Live experience handling and firing a firearm under safe supervision from a highly experienced and friendly instructor with over 25 years shooting experience.
- You will leave the class with the right attitude and the peace of mind that you can safely handle and fire your firearms.
Youth Pistol Safety Course:
- NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate
